OBITUARY: 
I.W. (Jack) Goodell, Rickreall rural mail carrier, passed away Saturday [May 8] at the Dallas hospital. He had been ill for the past three or four months following an attack of the flu. His health had been impaired for the past six or seven years following an auto accident when he received injuries from which he never fully recovered. 
He was born near Rickreall February 9, 1879, and had spent his life in Polk county. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Goodell, early residents of the county. Mr. Goodell was married November 11, 1911, to Julia Smith of Rickreall. 
He had served as a rural mail carrier since 1919. He was an active member of the Monmouth Odd Fellows lodge and had been a member of the Artisans for many years. 
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Henkle & Bollman chapel with Rev. E.A. Fogg of Kings Valley officiating. The Monmouth Odd Fellows lodge participated in the services. Interment was in the Burch cemetery east of Rickreall. 
Mr. Goodell is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Doris Goodell, both of Rickreall, and one brother, F. E. Goodell, Hanford, Wash.
