1850 OR CENSUS - Nancy Goff, age 24, b. Kentucky, is enumerated with Sam'l, age 30, occupation farmer, b. Missouri, along with Laura, age 2, b. Oregon Territory, Martha Virgin, age 16, b. Kentucky, Mary Virgin, age 11, b. Kentucky, and Marion Goff, age 22, b. Missouri. 
1900 OR CENSUS - Nancy V. Goff, age 75, widowed, mother of 12 children 6 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Feb. 1825 in Kentucky, is enumerated as mother in the home of Marion Sam'l Goff, age 49, occupation grocery wagon driver, b. Feb 1851 in Oregon, and his wife of 22 years, Catherine, age 38, mother of 4 children 2 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Mar 1862 in Illinois, along with Nancy Loverina, age 20, b. Feb 1879 in Oregon, and Harriett Francis, age 18, b. Dec 1881 in Washington.
DISCREPANCY - 1900 census gives birthdate as Feb 1825, biographical info in Hines gives birthdate as Mar 1826, marker gives year as 1826.

Miss Nancy Virgin b 9 Mar 1826 in Ky; dau of Reason Virgin (b Penn) & Miss Womock (b Va); m 14 Mar 1844 to Samuel Ford Goff; mov to Oregon 1847; settled S of Dallas; mov to Independence 1887 where she currently lives; had 12 ch, 7 of whom grew to maturity.

OBITUARY: 
Mrs Nancy Goff died at Pullman, Wash, Sunday, August 5, 1900, aged 74 years. She was visiting a daughter at that place, and was in good health when she left her home in Independence two weeks ago. Her maiden name was Nancy Virgin, and she was a native of Kentucky. She was married to Samuel Goff in 1844 and crossed the plains in 1847. Two sisters, Mrs Henry Hill and Mrs T. Kibbey survive her. She leaves five daughters and one son.

Another one of Oregon’s pioneers has passed away. Mrs Nancy Goff, who died at Pullman, Washington, Monday, was a resident of this county. She came across the plains in the train captained by Burch in 1847, her native state being Kentucky. She was aged about 74 years and leaves six children living, as follows: Samuel Goff, Independence; Mrs Lucretia Bacon, Grants Pass; Mrs Geneva Fisher, San Francisco; Mrs Luvenia Gelwick, Pullman, Wash; Mrs Sophie Rohel, Niehart, Montana; Mrs Mary Ellen Pierce, Goldendale, Wash. She also has a brother, Samuel Vergin, in Missouri, and two sisters in this state, one, Mrs Henry Hill, residing in this city, and the other, Mrs Kary Kibbe, living in Blodgett’s Valley, Benton county. The funeral took place on Thursday interment being in the Rickreall cemetery. A large number of friends from here attended the funeral.
