Minnesota.
1900 WA CENSUS - George F. Cohrs, age 25, occupation jeweler, b. May 1872 in Oregon, is enumerated as brother-in-law in the home of Gilbert Baker, age 42, occupation mailing clerk, b. Oct 1857 in New York, and his wife of 7 years, Annie, age 27, mother of 2, b. Jan 1873 in Minnesota, along with thier children Rosswell, age 6, b. Washington, and Mildred, age 2, b. Washington.
DISCREPANCY - 1900 census record gives date of birth as May 1872; marker gives date of birth as May 1874.

OBITUARY: 

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Smith-Baun chapel, Independence, for George Frederick Cohrs. His death occurred in the Salem general hospital July 26. He was stricken with a severe hemorrhage on the Thursday preceding and was taken to the hospital at that time. Rev Henry G. Hanson officiated at the service; Mrs M.J. Butler was soloist, and committal was at the Mt Crest Abbey crematorium in Salem. Pall bearers were all nephews of the deceased: George, William and Walter O’Neill, Irwin and Elmer Atrops, and Richard Conzelman. Mr Cohrs was born in Minnesota May 20, 1874, and became a very proficient jeweler and engraver, locating at Spokane, Wash, where he resided for many years. In 1910 he was married to Miss Garlan Hill, daughter of the late Henry Hill, and a teacher. They established their home in Spokane resided there until about 15 years ago, when they and their daughter Constance came to Independence to reside building a home on the Hill estate property south of town. Mr Cohrs established an engraving business in Salem which he operated until he opened a jewelry repair business a few years ago, jointly occupying a room with O.A. Kreamer. In addition to his widow and daughter, Mr Cohrs is survived by several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. Mr Cohrs had been ill for several weeks with malaria, but endeavored to carry on his work, and was stricken just as he got out of the chair in the Weddle barber shop.
