OBITUARY: 

Mabel Smith Frizzell, 81, of 970 15th St NE, died Saturday at a Salem hospital. She was born in Oregon City and raised in the Spring Valley-Hopewell area. She attended Spring Valley and Salem schools. After graduating from Salem High School she attended Willamette University. She worked as a medical secretary at Eastern Oregon State Hospital in Pendleton. She returned to Salem after living for a time in Hawaii. She was a great-granddaughter of George Kirby Gay, one of the Champoeg Group that helped form Oregon’s first government. She is survived by her husband Jason E. Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Virgil T. Golden mortuary.
