Rollin Beaver
Nov. 4, 1895—August 17, 1988
INDEPENDENCE – Services for Rollin Beaver, 92, who died Wednesday in Independence, will begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Howell-Edwards-Doerksen mortuary, Salem.
He was born in Long Run, Ohio. He moved to Salem when he was five. He was a farmer in the Eola Hills area for 70 years before coming to Independence. He was a member of the Chemeketans Hiking and Climbing Club and the Polk County Historical Society. He married Myrtle J. Lewis in 1927 in McMinnville. He sang, played classical guitar and harmonica, and he was a wood carver, photographer and writer. He traveled extensively and never owned a television.
He is survived by his wife; and daughter, Carolyn Miller of Port Angeles, Wash.
Visiting will be from noon to 8 p.m. today, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday in the mortuary. Interment will be in Zena Cemetery, Salem.
