OBITUARY:
Memorial services for Debra L. Allis of Amity will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1444 Liberty St. SE in Salem. Father Hollinshead T. Knight will officiate.
Private interment is to follow at Spring Valley Cemetery, in the rural Polk County crossroads community of Zena.
Mrs. Allis died of cancer on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, at the age of 48. She was at her Amity home, Boulder Crest Farm, with her husband, Nick, at her side.
Daughter of William and Carol Epley Smith, she was born May 28, 1956, in Salem. She was reared and educated in Salem, then moved to Amity.
Mrs. Allis had worked for the Marion County Housing Authority for 22 years, most recently as manager of housing programs. She was a member and past president of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.
Off the job, she enjoyed gardening, walking, moviegoing and beachcombing.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Nicholas Benavidez of Salem and Pablo Benavidez of Portland; her father, William Smith of Salem; a brother, Barry Smith of Willamina; and two nieces.
