DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:

Violet LaVone (Larson) Yungen, December 9, 1915-February 19, 2015

Esther Violet LaVone Yungen died February 19, 2015 at her home in Salem, Oregon. She was 99 years old at the time of her passing. Violet was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska on December 9, 1915 to Oscar Alfred Larson and Anna Wilhelmina (Anderson) Larson. She was the second of eight children. Violet married Robert Fredrick Yungen on February 16, 1947 in Dallas, Oregon. They were married 41 years, until Robert’s passing on May 4, 1988. Violet was preceded in death by her parents, and six of her brothers and sisters; Eva Cathline Larson, Karl Alfred Larson, Frances Julia (Larson) Steele, Alice Mildred (Larson) Teats, Glenn Herman Larson, and Herbert Rudolph Larson. She is survived by her youngest brother Harry Dwayne Larson, of Yelm, Washington, 18 nieces and nephews and their extended families. Violet was very active in church and her community. She was the bookkeeper for Knight Memorial Church for many years, and held several jobs all of which served and bettered her community. She and Robert owned and operated the Brush College Store in West Salem for many years, and had operated the Lincoln Store prior to building the store at Brush College. In addition to all of her community activities, Violet assumed the position of matriarch of the Larson family. She loved organizing family functions. While Violet and Robert never had any children of their own, over the years they took in many of her nieces and nephews allowing them to work at the store during summer vacations from school, and in some cases later in life as well, when other employment was difficult. Violet was always actively engaged in things foing on around her, and did everything within her power to improve the lives of everyone she met. She will be deeply missed. Memorial donations to the American Heart Association, or to a charity of your choice would have pleased her immensely, as giving to charity was one of Violet’s passions. Viewing will be Friday, Feb 27 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. Services will be held on Saturday, Feb 28 at 1:00 pm at Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center. If you would like to leave the family a memory or message go to www.dallastribute.com. The Dallas Mortuary Tribute Center is caring for the family.
