OBITUARY: 

Hulda Hoven Smith
Hulda Hoven Smith, 101, of Salem, died Nov. 21 in Dallas.
She was born is (sic) Smaland, Sweden, and came to the United States in 1892. She became a naturalized citizen in 1898. In 1910, she moved to Oregon from Minnesota, and in 1963 moved to Salem from Dallas. She was librarian at the Dallas Public Library from 1947 to 1963 and was a member of the Court Street Christian Church in Salem. Her husband, Frank A. Smith, died in 1931.
Survivors include her daughters, Eula Minnich of Dallas and Ila Sams of Skamania, Wash.; and sons, Edgar A. of Modesto, Calif. and James E. of Salem.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 23 at the church. Private interment will follow at Zena Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Rigdon-Ransom Mortuary in Salem. Contributions may be made to the church memorial fund.
