OBITUARY:

Gladstone Man Loses Life In Accident On Freeway.
Norlyn A. Rivers, 23, 205 W. Cloucester street, Gladstone, OR., was fatally injured Sunday when his car overturned on the Baldock freeway about five miles north of Salem.
State policeman Ray Judson, who investigated the accident, said the southbound 1950 two-door sedan crossed the stripdividing the north and south lanes and came to a stop on the northbound lane, mnarrowly missing an oncoming car.
The sedan is believed to have rolled over twice, throwing Rivers out. He died en route to Memorial hospital in Salem. The accident occurred just after 2 p.m. one-half mile north of Qunaby overcrossing.
Judson said Rivers "must have gone to sleep at the wheel. There were not other cars involved and we could find nothing wrong with he mechanism of the car."
Identification of Rivers was made at Howell Edwards funeral home in Salem from papers found in the victim's pockets.
His father, William A. Rivers, resides at 205 W. Cloucester street, Gladstone, and his mother, Mrs. Byron Purvine, lives at Salem.
In the northbound car which 'could have hit the Rivers car if it had been going any faster" were Myron Duyck, the drive; Ralph Duyck and Elaine Vandehey, all of Banks, Or. They called an ambulance and state plice to the scene.
Jusdon said traffic was "medium" on the freeway at the time of the accident but no car ecept the Duycks vehicle was endangered by Rivers' careening seday.
