OBITUARY:
Joshua L. Purvine Is Buried
Salem, Or., Aug 16.—(Special)—Joshua L. Purvine died here Sunday after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Purvine was born in Morgan county, Illinois, March 5, 1842. At the age of 6 years he accompanied his father’s family to Oregon and settled on French Prairie, about one mile east of the present town of Hubbard. His mother died in 1849 an his father passed away in 1852. Mr. Purvine later made his home with his sister Mrs. C. C. Walker, in Spring Valley, Polk county. He was married to Mary V. Walker, daughter of a pioneer Polk county family, November 24, 1864. Mr. Purvine is survived by his widow and four sons, Elmer W., Dudley C. Frank L. and Lynn M., all of Salem. Funeral services were held here today.
