David, age 11, b. Missouri, and A. Margaret, age 9, b. Missouri. Also enumerated with the family are Nicholas Lowber, age 13, identified as nephew [of Frederick], b. New Mexico, and L. Adell, age 9, identified as niece [of Frederick], b. Pennsylvania. 
1940 MI CENSUS - Ruthann Hayes, age 25, b. Michigan, is enumerated with husband Eli E. Hayes, age 31, occupation teacher, b. Michigan, along with Anne, age 9, b. Michigan.

DISCREPANCY - 1940 census gives birthplace as Missouri, but 1920 census and DC give birthplace as Michigan.

DEATH CERTIFICATE: 

OSBH DC (Marion County 1963) #12707 - Ruthanna L. Hayes, female, librarian, divorced (Eli Eglin Hayes); b. 15 July 1904 at St. Louis, Missouri, d. 27 Sep 1963 at Salem, Oregon (250 Strong Rd. NE) at the age of 59 years, name of father Frederick Lowber, maiden name of mother Marie McErnery; bur Zena; informant Anne M. Hayes, daughter.

OBITUARY: 

Mrs Ruthanna L. Hayes, mother of Dr Anne M. Hayes of Oregon Fairview Home, died Friday night in a Salem nursing home. She resided with her daughter at Fairview. Besides the daughter, she leaves one sister, Mrs Margaret Polk, Santa Ana, Calif, two brothers, Freerick C. Lowber, Canton, Ohio, and David Lowber, Morrison, Ill, and four grandchildren. Services will be 1 pm Wednesday in St Paul’s Episcopal Church. A. rosary will be said at 8 pm Tuesday in V.T. Golden chapel. Burial will be in Zena Cemetery.
