OBITUARY: 

Services for Mrs. Gibson Set Tuesday
Services for Mrs. Harriett C. Gibson, who died Saturday at the residence, 1760 Wallace Rd., will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 1:30 p.m. in the Clough-Barrick Chapel. Interment will be at Zena Cemetery.
Mrs. Gibson, a long-time resident of Oregon, was born in Wakely, Mich., March 26, 1864. A trip with her mother to Washington D. C. to visit her father, then a soldier in the Union Army, became a memorable event for her. She was in that city when the Civil War ended and also at the time President Lincoln was assassinated.
She was schooled in Michigan and came to Oregon with her par- (sic) [at this point some text appears to have been left out of the newspaper article] Gibson January 1, 1885, and they moved to Polk County where they farmed. They retired in 1918 and moved to Salem where he died in 1938. They had celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1935. In 1939 she moved back to Polk County where she has resided at her Wallace Road residence ever since and pursued her hobby of gardening.
Survivors include sons, Lee, Fred, Duane and Rex Gibson, and a brother Albert Patrick, all of Salem; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. vive. (sic)
