NOTE - wife Alice was daughter of Jesse and Julia Harritt. She appears in 1900 census of Polk Co and later moved to Salem, Marion Co. She died 31 May 1934 in Salem and was buried in City View Cemetery [OSBH DC 1934 Marion Co #380]

OBITUARY: 

EMMETT—At the farm home in Polk county, about four miles from Salem, James Emmett, aged about 55 years, of neuralgia of the heart. Mr. Emmett was a brother-in-law of John, Byron, and Elmer Harritt, of this city.
Funeral services will be held at Zena, at 10 a.m. Friday, conducted by Rev. J. Bowersox and Rev. W. C. Kantner of this city.

A Polk County Pioneer Dead
James H. Emmett, a pioneer of Polk county, aged about 50, died at his home three miles west of Salem, January 7, after a short illness. He leaves a wife, two sons and two daughters. The burial took place from the residence, at Zena cemetery at 10 a.m. Friday. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church and United Workmen. He was well and favorably known at Salem.
