OBITUARY: 

Leona ‘Lee’ Mary Curtis-Arnett, Sept 14, 1931-Sept 18, 1998

“Lee” Curtis, 67, of Salem, died Friday of lung disease. Born in Greeley, Colo, she moved to Salem in 1937. She graduated from the Mount Angel Academy. She spent 32 years of her working career in the business department at the Statesman Journal, retiring in 1994. In 1982 she acquired a food and beverage establishment with her late husband Jim Arnett. She enjoyed cooking and baking for others, entertaining and caring for her yard and flower garden. Survivors include her mother, Grace Curtis of Salem; brother, Hal Curtis of Salem; son, Brad Paynter of Vancouver, Wash; daughter, Jan Pfennig of Salem; stepdaughters, Peggy Hammett of Douglas City, Calif and Cathy Aurelio and Terri Montgomery, both of Cedar Glen, Calif; stepson, James Arnett of Lebanon; and 14 grandchildren. A memorial service will be 1:30 pm Friday at Trinity Methodist Church. Interment will be private. Contributions: The Lung Association.
