OBITUARY: 

Velma M. Bluemmel, 56, of Turner, died Nov 21 at Salem Memorial Hospital. She was born in Independence, Kan, the daughter of Rueben A. and Sylvia Payne Hinman on July 4, 1930. In 1945 she moved to Lebanon and graduated from Lebanon Union High School in 1948. She was chosen as the May Day Queen in 1948. She also lived in Washington for many years. In Everett, Wash, she managed a prescription optical firm for about 10 years. In January of 1986 she moved to Turner. Mrs Bluemmel attended Pedee Evangelical Church of North America in Pedee. Surviving are her father, Rueben A. Hinman of Salem; a son, Roger Baca of Salem; four daughters, Linda Pelky of Dallas, Debra Bouchie of Turner, Sue Young of Romona, Calif, Beverly Quarels of Salem; and stepchildren, Robin, Michael, John, Beth, Rick and Jeff, all of the Portland area, along with 17 grandchildren. Services were Nov 23 in Pedee Evangelical Church of North America, with interment in the Womer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Pedee Church at 12995 Kings Valley Highway, Monmouth, Ore 97361.
