James W. Bishop, Jan. 12, 1909-Jan. 4, 2000

James “Jim” William Bishop of Falls City died at his home on Jan 4. He was 90. Born in Boulder Creek, Calif, to Schooler and Rosa Sloan Bishop, he grew up in the Santa Cruz, Calif, area. He moved to Armona, Calif, where he graduated from boarding school. He married Mary Place in Santa Cruz on June 14, 1938. The couple moved to Oregon in 1940. He worked for the Oregon Conference of Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years, retiring in 1974. He settled in Falls City, where he lived until his death. He enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Falls City; a son, Ed Bishop of Salem; a daughter, Julee Bishop of Falls City; and two grandchildren. Graveside services were held Jan 7 at Womer Cemetery in Pedee. A memorial service was held Jan 8 at the Falls City Seventh Day Adventist Church under the direction of Bollman Funeral Home.
