Amzel Elizabeth Bird, 81, Dallas, died March 30 in the Polk Community Hospital. She was born in Brooks, Oregon on August 10, 1892, the daughter of John and Lena Wolfe Harris. She retired from the Pioneer Post Office in Portland later working at Meier and Franks. She married Charles Bird in Portland on August 8, 1954 and had lived in Dallas since. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Dallas Garden Club and the Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are her husband, Charles of Dallas; son, Clifford Osborn of Pedee; daughter, Dorothy Bird of Eugene; step-son Harold Bird of Eugene; daughter-in-law, Audrey Osborn of Junction city; brothers Claude Harris of Sacramento, Calif, and Robin Harris of Red Bluff, Calif, along with five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Walter Osborn. Funeral services were on April 2, In the First Christian Church with the Rev Gordon Milldrum officiating and burial was in the Womer Cemetery at Pedee. Dallas Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
