OBITUARY:

Nancy Emeline Bevens, wife of G.J. Bevens, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Jessie Edwards in Philomath Sunday, October 17. Mrs. Bevens had not been well for some time but was only seriously ill for a few hours before her death.
The daughter of John and Jane Weddle Crowley, well known early Oregon pioneers, she was born in Coos county November 15, 1869. At the age of five months she came with her parents to Linn county by pack train over the mountains before a road had been built through what was then a wilderness. Since that time she had spent most of her life in Polk and Benton counties. She married Mr. Bevens, then a resident of Airlie, on September 2, 1887. Mrs. Bevens was a member of the Independence Baptist church. Mr. and Mrs. Bevens had only recently moved to Falls City to live.
Surviving besides Mr. Bevens are three daughters: Mrs. Jessie Edwards, Philomath; Mrs. Velna Edwards and Mrs. Golda Truax, Pedee; a sister, Mrs. Fannie Willis, Netarts and one brother, George Crowley of Portland. A son, Glenn, died at the age of eight.
Funeral services under the direction of the Keeney funeral home Corvallis, were held in the Evangelical church at Kings Valley on Tuesday, October 19. Rev Loyal H. Vickers of the Corvallis Baptist church officiated and interment was in the family plot in the Womer cemetery at Pedee.
