1900 OR CENSUS - William L. Vale, age 53, occupation farmer, b. Feb 1847 in Missouri and his wife of 13 years, Mary A., age 36, mother of 2, b. May 1864 in Oregon, along with Thomas A., age 12, b. Jul 1887 in Oregon, and Charles, age 10, b. Feb 1890 in Oregon. 
MARRIAGE - W.S. Vale and Mary M. Hooker married 2 Apr 1887
DISCREPANCY - Oregon Death Index gives her date of death as March 15, marker as March 16.
DISCREPANCY - 1900 census record gives her birth month as March, Marker gives her birth month as January.
Mrs. Mary Maria Vale, who had made her home with her son Thomas Vale, city drayman, passed away at the home, 700 B street, yesterday, death resulting from pneumonia following influenza. The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from Bovee’s funeral parlors, Rev C.P. Gates of the Evangelical church officiating. The body will be forwarded to Pedee, near Kings Valley, the old home, for interment Thursday morning. 
Mrs Vale, who was aged 55 years, had made her home in this city the past six years, the family coming here from Pedee. Deceased is survived by two sons, Thomas of Corvallis and Charles of Rainier, and a step-daughter, Mrs M.J. Young of Corvallis.
