OBITUARY: 

William Henry Birchell, 57, of Route 1, Monmouth, died in the Dallas hospital last Wednesday after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at the Henkle & Bollman chapel Tuesday afternoon with Rev Howard Perry of Kings Valley officiating. Burial was in the Womer cemetery at Pedee. Born April 27, 1890, at Rutledge, Tennessee, Mr Birchell was the son of Richard and Mary Birchell. He was married to Malinda Bowman on June 12, 1920, at Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mr Birchell lived in Tennessee until 1908, when he moved to Texas. In 1916 he went to New Mexico. He came to Route 1, Monmouth in 1946. During the First World War, he served in the American expeditionary force in France in 1918 and 1919 as a member of the Marine corps. He was a member of Byron Mudgett post, New Mexico, American Legion. He was also a member of the Baptist church and of the Woodmen of the World. Surviving are the widow of Route 1, Monmouth; seven children, Mrs W.L. Snowden, George W.B. Birchell, Helen Louise Birchell, Alma Lilly Birchell, Dorothy Faye Birchell, Willie Jane Birchell, all of Route 1, Monmouth, and Richard Price Burchell of State College, New Mexico, and two sisters, Mrs Ellie Taylor of Corvallis and Mrs Lucy Phillips of Yuma, Calif.
