Martha Bevens, 73, who was born at Salt Creek, Polk county, Oregon, July 13, 1868, passed away at her home 318 Marie street, Medford, at 11:20 am Monday. Martha Crowley was united in marriage in Polk county in December 1886 to Walker Bevens who has preceded her to the beyond. Mrs Bevens has resided in Medford for the last 18 years. She leaves five children, George E. Bevens, Klamath Falls; Theodore, of Prospect; Lillian Vance, Joyce McCaleb and Opal Campbell, all of Medford. Also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was of pioneer parents, the late Mr and Mrs Thomas and Lucinda Crowley residents of the early days of Polk county. Funeral services were conducted this afternoon in the Conger chapel by Rev C.W. Frost of the Apostolic Faith mission. The remains will be taken to Pedee, Polk county, tomorrow for final rites and interment.

The body of Mrs Martha Bevens, widow of the late Walker E. Bevens, was brought from Medford Wednesday for burial in the Womer cemetery near Pedee. She was 73 years old. She had lived in Medford for 18 years. Mrs Bevens was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Thomas Crowley, Polk county pioneers, and was born in the Salt Creek community. Her husband, who has been dead a number of years, was a member of the pioneer Bevens family of the Airlie district. J.D. Bevens of Dallas and F.D. Bevens of Corvallis are the only surviving brothers of a family of ten children.
