OBITUARY: 

Malinda Catherine Birchell, 72, of Monmouth, died at a local nursing home on October 18. She was born in Chickasaw, Oklahoma on April 3, 1902, the daughter of William and Tammy Wolf Bowman. She married William Birchell on June 12, 1920 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The family moved to Pedee in 1945 and Mr Birchell passed away in September of 1947. She was a retired practical nurse and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Surviving are her sons George of Dallas, R.P. Birchell of Ramah, New Mexico; daughters, Mary Snowden of Dallas, Alma Graham of Monmouth, Willie Jane Nordal of Salem, Helen Bowman and Dorothy Richardson, both of Philomath; sisters, Laura Brown of New Mexico, Alberta Martin of Arkansas and Eva Wright in Texas; along with a brother, Doe Bowman in New Mexico and 28 grandchildren. Funeral services were October 22 at 1 pm in the Bollman Funeral Home with the Rev Fred Miller officiating and burial was in the Womer Cemetery at Pedee. Those who desire may contribute to Womer Cemetery Tree Fund in care of the Funeral Home.
