OBITUARY: 

Funeral services for Samuel Eben Davis, 41, Salem, who drowned Saturday in the Siletz river 10 miles west of Valsetz, will be held at 2 pm Thursday, June 12 in the Bollman Funeral Home. Members of the Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate. Interment will be in the Brown cemetery. 
He was born Aug 28, 1927 at Airlie, the son of Lawrence and Veva Hastings Davis. He married Pauline Eviline Holt April 15, 1948 in Salem. He was an employee of the Salem Iron Works and was a veteran of World War II. 
Survivors include his widow, Pauline E. Davis, Salem; one daughter, Cynthiann; four sons, Steve Allen, Daniel E., Mark S. and Dale A. Davis, all of Salem; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Davis, Salem; three sisters, Betty Jean Anderson, Toledo, Marion Schroeder, Molalla and Katherine Slack, Lebanon.
