OBITUARY: 
Myrtle Velma Alsip, 75, of 4835 Mistletoe Road, Monmouth, died at Polk Community Hospital on July 6. 
She was born in Ashdown, Arkansas on March 17, 1905, the daughter of James and Anna Sewell Bond. She moved with her parents to Culdesac, Idaho in 1911 where she completed grade and high schools. In 1924 she moved to Monmouth where she graduated from Oregon Normal School, now Oregon College of Education. She taught in Polk and Lincoln County schools. 
In 1936 she married Russell Alsip; they farmed for many years. He preceded her in death in 1961. 
Mrs. Alsip was a member of the Monmouth First Christian church, Farmers Union, and Mistletoe Extension Unit. 
Surviving are her daughter, Ardis Burch of Monmouth, step-daughter Irene Smith of Corvallis; sister, Elsie Crook of Halsey, and brothers, Herschel Bond of Monmouth, Richard Bond of Hillsboro, and Carl Bond of Corvallis, along with grandson Jimmy Burch. Services will be July 10 Thursday at 10 am in the First Christian Church in Monmouth. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery under the direction of the Bollman Funeral Home. Those who desire may contribute to the Church Memorial Fund in her memory.
