OBITUARY:  Died of Consumption Charles A. West, the 18-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. West, died at the family home in North Dallas yeatrerday morning at 4 o’clock, after a long illness of tuberculosis. The family came to Oregon from Washington four years ago, and have lost three sons with the dread disease since moving to Dallas. Charlie West was an honest, industrious young man, and his death is a sad blow to his family and friends. The funeral was held at 10 o’clock this morning and interment was made in the Brown cemetery. Polk County Observer, Tuesday, March 19, 1907, 2:1 NORTH DALLAS It is with regret that we send in the notice of the death of Charley West, which occurred early Monday morning. Charley is the fifth son of Mr. and Mrs. West to die of consumption. It was only in February that he took the eighth grade examination in our school. Charley was a bright, studious boy and well liked by all. He had the best of care from living parents and sister, but from the first it was feared he would not live. His funeral took place from his home at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning and he was laid to rest beside two older brothers in the Brown cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. West have the sympathy of the entire neighborhood. Polk County Itemizer, Thursday, March 21, 1907, 2:6 Charles Evans West was born in Moscow, Idaho, and died in Dallas Monday at the ae of 18 years, of consumption. The funeral was held from his father’s, Mr. E.W. West, residence Tuesday, and the remains laid to rest in the Brown cemetery. Mr. West has lived here four years and this is the third death in his family during that time from the same disease. He desires to thank the many friends for their kindness during the bereavement.
