NOTE - Sister of Cora Della Hubbard. Tombstone, which is of recent manufacture, gives incorrect years of birth and death. Her son Theodore was probably the Ted Hagner who died 23 Nov 1927 in Alameda Co, California, age 39 years [CA death index]

California Death Index - Mae L. Dempsey died 17 Oct 1927, Napa Co, California, age 56 years
OBITUARY: 
Funeral services of Mrs Mary Dempsey, aged 61 years, were held at 11 am today at the Henkle chapel with Rev A.P. Layton officiating. Burial was in the Brown cemetery near Dallas. Mrs Dempsey was the wife of Jack Dempsey and died at the family home in Concord, near San Francisco, Calif, on October 17. Death resulted from tuberculosis. Mrs Dempsey was born at Forest Grove on September 8, 1866. She spent the greater part of her early life in Oregon. She was married on November 26, 1902, in St Louis to Mr Dempsey. She is survived by her husband, one son Theodore, who is ill at Concord, Calif; three brothers, Guy Smith, Salem, Dick Smith, San Francisco, Jack Smith, Alaska, and three sisters, Mrs Della Hubbard, Corvallis, Mrs Julia Spencer, Long Beach, and Mrs Julia Guy, Palo Alto. Mrs Dempsey had visited Dallas with her sister Mrs Hubbard, a former resident of this community, a few weeks ago, and had selected the Brown cemetery as the place where she wished to be buried. Mr Dempsey accompanied the body north from California.
