OBITUARY: 
William Hickman (Uncle Billy) Brown, 88, died last Thursday at the Dallas Rest Home where he had been a patient for about a year and a half. Except for a few months in Portland he had spent his entire life in Dallas. 
Mr. Brown was born in Dallas May 26, 1872, son of John G. and Evelyn Rachel Whitney Brown. He was a grandson of W.C. Brown, colorful early day merchant of Cynthian and Dallas. He married Jennie G. Paul at Dallas Nov 26, 1893. She died here April 14, 1959. 
Mr. Brown had many reminiscences of early day Dallas and its residents. His parents’ home had been on the highway in North Dallas, across from the Union Oil Co plant. He was a member of the Baptist church. Surviving are seven children, five daughters and two sons, Mrs. Leone Bouyear, Portland; Paul W. Brown, Salem; Mrs. Ivan C. Miller, Kelso, Wash; Mrs. Sara F. Holt, Mrs. Retta Allister and Mrs. Harrison Lockling, all Salem, and John G. Brown, Ruth, Calif. There are 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. 
Services were Monday at 2 o’clock at Bollman Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Brown family cemetery on Polk Station road.
