OBITUARY: William Irvine Morrison died at his home two miles southwest of Independence October 17. He had been ill for about a year following a paralytic stroke. Funeral services were held at the Keeney funeral home Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev K.A. Nelson of the Baptist church officiated, and interment was in the Odd Fellows cemetery. The musical numbers were by Mrs Columbus Tetherow and Mrs K.A. Nelson with Miss Irene Bush as accompanist. The selections were: “Face to Face” and “It is Well with My Soul.” Pallbearers were Frank P. Bush, L.E. Stapleton, D.P. Stapleton, John Storey, Robert Phillips, M.J. O’Donnell. Mr Morrison was 55 years old, and had owned and operated the farm where he had passed away for 28 years. He was born in Keokuk county, Iowa, March 16, 1875. He came to Oregon with his parents when he was 11 years old. For a year and a half the family home of the parents was at Newport and was then transferred to Falls City. Mr Morrison was married to Miss Delia Pagenkopf at Falls City September 5, 1902, and in 1918 he bought the farm south of Independence. He is survived by his widow and one son, Carl Morrison. Mr Morrison served as road supervisor for several years in the district in which he resided and was active in social and community projects.
