OBITUARY: Barney Morrison, an old pioneer of the Yaquina Bay country, died at his home at Pioneer last Tuesday, September 24, 1907, at the age of 80 years, 3 months and 24 days. Barney Morrison was born June 1, 1827, in Washington county, Tennessee. On April 11, 1846, he was united in marriage to Miss Zimma Stoner. To the couple were born six girls and two boys. Those living are: Ruth A. Embree of Dallas; J.H. Morrison of Lebanon, Wash; C.L. Morrison of Pioneer; Tabitha Simpson and Josephine Bevens of Airlie. The good wife survives him. Mr and Mrs Morrison settled at what is now known as Pioneer in May, 1878, where they continuously made their home, and were numbered among the old pioneers who by their spirit of industry and endurance, paved the way and made it possible that we of less venturesome turn might come and make our homes. – Toledo Leader

At his home at Pioneer, in Lincoln county, Oregon, on Tuesday, September 24, 1907, Barney Morrison, aged 80 years, 3 months and 24 days, died. He was born in Washington county, Tennessee. He was married April 11th, 1846, to Jemima Storrer. There was born to them six children, four girls and two boys, all of whom survive him: Ruth A. Embree of Dallas, J.H. Morrison of Lebam, Wash, C.L. Morrison, Pioneer, Tabitha Simpson, Independence and Josephine Bevens of Airlie. He moved to this county and settled at Pioneer in 1878. He located on a productive farm along the Yaquina river. He was one of the promoters and at the time of his death was president of the Yaquina Bay Mutual Telephone Company. He was an upright citizen, a kind husband and father and was respected by his neighbors. – Toledo Reporter
