OBITUARY: 
Funeral services of W.J. Burns, well known Polk county resident, were held Saturday afternoon in Dallas with Rev. A .F. Layton of Salem officiating. Burial was in the Smith cemetery near Lewisville.
M.r Burns died Thursday, October 24. He was born on the old Billy Burns place on the Little Luckiamute July 9, 1867, and spent his entire life there until he retired and moved to Dallas 11 years ago. He was a son of W. E. Burns, a pioneer of 1848. 
Mr. Burns had a wide acquanitance in Polk county and leaves many warm friends to mourn his loss. He had spent practically all his life ranching and farming. He had been in ill health for several eyars past, but his condition became critical about a week before his death. 
Mr. Burns is survived by his widow, his aged mother Mrs. W. E. Burns who has made her home with him for many years, and two sisters Mrs. J. T. Alexander of Portland and Mrs. A. A. Lindeman of Lewisville.
