OBITUARY: 
Mrs Leutisha Swearingen, 75, resident of West Salem until 1955, died in Salem March 29. Funeral services were at the Bollman Funeral chapel Tuesday at 10 am with Rev Donald Helseth officiating. Burial was in Smith cemetery, Monmouth. She was born December 20, 1880, in Franklin county, Iowa, daughter of Mr and Mrs Emil Mayer. She was married to George R. Swearingen at Valentine, Nebr, in 1898. He died November 30, 1945. Mrs Swearingen lived in Nebraska until 1905 when she moved to Monmouth. In 1937 she went to west Salem, and she had been in Salem for the past year. She was a member of the Monmouth First Christian church. Surviving ae two sons, Joe Swearingen of Fall Creek and Merle Swearingen of Canby; two daughters, Jennie Putnam of Corvallis and Ruth Rose of Sheridan; three sisters; one brother; five grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
