OBITUARY: A service for Douglas D. Pyle will be in Holman-Hankins-Bowker-Waud funeral home at 10 am Friday. Mr Pyle, a hairdresser, died Tuesday in his Oregon City home of complications due to AIDS. He was 23. Mr Pyle was born Nov 28, 1969, in Grants Pass. He moved to the Oregon City area in 1978 and graduated from Oregon City High School in 1985. He later attended Clackamas Community College and the Oregon City Beauty School Mr Pyle was a member of the speakers’ bureau of the Cascade AIDS Society and was active in Cascade AIDS project fund-raising. He also was the founder of the Dreams for the Future fund-raising event for AIDS research. He is survived by his father, Bill of Otis; mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Mark Hammond, both of Oregon City; brothers, Robert and Paul, both of Oregon City and Press of Otis; grandmother, Barbara Hammond of West Linn; and great-grandmother, Helen Willson of Corvallis. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Cascade AIDS Project.
