OBITUARY: DEATH OF C. M. BROWN
Died at his home four miles west of Monmouth, Wednesday, October 16, 1895, Charles M. Brown, of consumption, aged 48 years and 18 days.
Charles M. Brown was born in Wayne county, Indiana, September 28, 1847, and came to Oregon in 1875. He and Miss Cora Evans were married in this county in 1879. The deceased was the son of Joshua Brown who came to this country in the early days, and located on the Little Luckiamute about four miles west of Monmouth. Charlie Brown was an honest, conscientious man and a good citizen. He was a sufferer from consumption for several years, and made frequent visits to California for the benefit of his health, but received only temporary relief. He bore up patiently under the chastening hand of affliction, and for the past year was satisfied that his tenure of life was of short duration. He left a widow and three children. Mr. Jacob Brown, who lives near Buena Vista, is his only brother.
The funeral was held on Friday, 18th instant, Rev L.S. Fisher, of Monmouth, officiating. The remains were taken to the Lewisville cemetery for interment.

At his farm on the Luckiamute, Wednesday, October 16, 1895, Charles M. Brown departed this life, aged 58 years and 18 days, from consumption. Funeral on Friday, Rev Fisher officiating. Remains were interred in Lewisville cemetery.
Charles Martin Brown was born in Wayne county, Indiana, September 28, 1847, and was a son of Jacob Brown. He came to Oregon with his parents in 1875 and they settled in Polk county. For many months he has been gradually declining, that dread disease consumption having taken its hold on him. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his loss. J .F. Brown is his brother, and Mrs. M. Kinney, Mr.s Heffley and Miss Jessie Brown are nieces.
