OBITUARY:
John Anderson Williams, 54-year-old Polk county native son, died suddenly Monday afternoon from a heart attack presumably brought on by working in the hot sun. Mr Williams, who had made his home with Mr and Mrs Milt Grant for the past six months, had gone to work at noon at the Fred Toner hop yard east of Dallas. An hour or two later he became ill, complaining of pains in his chest and stomach. Mr Toner brought him home and at Mr Williams request had made him easy under a cherry tree in the yard when he suddenly expired. The Grant family had gone to McMinnville in the afternoon and did not return till about an hour later. Mr Williams was born September 13, 1883 near Monmouth, the son of Sanford and Sarah Williams. He never married. His entire life had been spent in the vicinity of Monmouth and Independence, where he was well known. He came to the Grant home last December when Mr Grant was ill and had made his home there since. He was a cousin of Mr Grant. He is survived by one sister, Mrs H.N. Dickinson of Independence. His parents and a brother and sister are deceased. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Henkle & Bollman chapel with Rev F.A. Lenz, pastor of the Evangelical church, officiating. Burial was in the Smith cemetery near Lewisville. Itemizer Observer, Thursday, July 1, 1937, 1:5-6
