Died at his residence, 1555 north Capitol street, October 8, James Henry Lewis, at the age of 74 years; husband of Mrs Mary M. Lewis; father of Mrs Minnie Hughes of Bellingham, Wash; E.R. Lewis, Tillamook; W.P. Lewis, Salem; Mrs Ethel Mede [sic; Mode] of Hoquiam, Wash; Miss Nena Lewis, Mrs Leda Iverson, Mrs Ruth Brady, all of Salem; Guy Lewis of Valsetz; and Mrs Gladys Seymour of Bucada, Wash. Arrangements in charge of Rigdon. Funeral services will be held from the Rigdon mortuary Wednesday morning at 11 o’clock. Ref R.L. Putnam will officiate and interment will be in the Smith cemetery west of Dallas.

James Henry Lewis, for many years a resident of Polk county, died at his home in Salem October 8 after an illness of about two weeks. Mr Lewis was 74 years of age and is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs Minnie Hughes of Bellingham, Wash; Elmer R. Lewis of Tillamook; Wilbur P. Lewis of Salem; Ethel Mode of Hoquiam, Wash; Miss Winona Lewis of Dallas; Mrs Leda Iverson of Salem; Mrs Ruth Brady of Salem; Guy Lewis of Valsetz, and Mrs Gladys Seymour of Budeca, Wash. Funeral services were held in Salem Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev R.L. Putnam and interment was in the Smith cemetery near Lewisville.
