Mr. Fowle was werll known throughout the Airlie district, and in Dallas. About two years ago Mr. Fowle made arrangements with the Henkle & Thomas funeral home as to the disposition of his remains upon his death. At that time he apparently anticipated that his death would come suddenly and as he had no near relatives here wished to have arrangements understood.

Funeral Services Held at Lewisville for R. M. Fowle
Funeral services were held at Lewisville Monday afternoon for Morris Fowle, a resident of Polk county for about 50 years. His death occurred in the Dallas hospital on Thursday of last week. While an operation was being performed upon him in the hospital nearly a year and a half ago, he was stricken with paralysis and has since been cared for in the hospital. He partially regained the use of the affected side, and hobbled around with the aid of crutches. He expired while sitting in a chair, and the presumption is that he had a second stroke.
Mr. Fowle was born in Wisconsin and came to Oregon with his parents when he was a small boy, and the home was established on the Luckiamute in the Airlie section. His father and mother passed on years ago, and a brother and sister died more recently. Mr. Fowle was never married and the only surviving member of the family is a niece, Mrs. Dora Thomas, who resides in California and who came for the funeral.
Dr H. Charles Dunsmore officiated at the funeral, with Henkle & Thomas in charge of the service. Mrs. M. J. Butler was soloist. Interment was in the Smith cemetery. Pall bearers were: William Toedtemeir, Phillip Schweizer, Wallace Brown, Doc Burbank, Ira McBeth and K. L. Williams, all old friends of the deceased. Burial was in the family plot in the Smith cemerery.
Mr. Fowle was in the employ of the county for several years preceding his illness, a member of a rock crushing crew. He was a frequent visitor in Independence, stopping at Hotel Beaver for several days at a time. He was well-read, was interested in affairs of the nation, and a student and a philosopher. At the funeral service the little church was filled with friends, many of whom had known Mr. Fowle all his life, and they have a very kindly remembrance of him. His farm, the old homestead, has been operated for several years by Miles E. Branch.
