OBITUARY:
Joseph LaFrance, who has been with his aged wife a resident of the Cooper Hollow for a couple of years, passed away Sunday night, of the troubles incident to old age. He was born in Montreal, Canada, in May 1829, and was married to Charlotte Miller in 1850 at Chatam, Canada. To this union 11 children were born, six boys and five girls, of whom seven are still living, one girl and six boys. Two sons are here with them.
Grandpa LaFrance, as he was commonly called, became a Christian as soon as he learned how, and there was nothing he loved better than to hear and study the promises of the Saviour, and he passed peacefully away with the promise of the Master on his lips: “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am ye may be also. His wife, who has been his constant companion for nearly 60 years, will miss him, oh so much, but not as one without hope, for her faith looks up to Jesus, who will reunite them where sorrow never comes.
The funeral was preached Tuesday by Rev C.A. Sias, of this city, and the aged form laid tenderly away by many friends who had come to respect and love him for his many virtues.
