Louise Elizabeth Tognarelli, May 3, 1916-Sept. 24, 2002
Louise Elizabeth Tognarelli of Hamburg, NY, formerly of Monmouth, died Sept 24. She was 86. She was born in Mineral City, Ohio, to John Emerson Dodge and Dora Luemma Mathias Dodge. She moved to Kenmore, NY in 1920 after the death of her mother. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Lafayette School of Nursing in Buffalo, NY in 1936. She worked as a surgical nurse at Sisters Hospital in Buffalo and as a private duty nurse. Prior to retirement she worked for oral surgeons Dr. William Babbitt and Dr. Gary Pederson in Salem. She married Howard Reitzel in 1936 and they later divorced but had become good friends again in recent years. She married Orpheus Lee Parker in 1952 and they were divorced in 1970. She married Gene Tognarelli in 1973. He died in 1975. She will be remembered for her love of flowers and birds, her feisty sense of humor and her good cooking. She planted gardens wherever she lived and was a self-taught “master gardener.” She enjoyed traveling and had traveled and lived throughout the United States as well as the Orient. Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Keller of Hamburg, NY and Nancy Pullman of Independence; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. At her request no services will be held. Contributions may be made to St Phillip Catholic Church in Dallas or Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.
