OBITUARY: 
Burrus Marion Rose, May 20, 1907-Oct. 10, 1989
Portland – Services for Burrus Marion Rose, 82, a former Dallas area resident, will begin at 1 pm Saturday at Bollman mortuary, Dallas, with interment in English Cemetery, Monmouth. 
He was born in Dallas and graduated from high school in Independence. He attended Oregon Normal School (now Western Oregon State College) in Monmouth, then worked at sawmills in Dallas, Valsetz and Westport, and for Valley and Siletz Railroad. He moved to Portland in 1945 and worked for 30 years as a brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1975. He also had been a member of the Portland Auxiliary Police Force. He married Crystal Mills in 1927 in McMinnville. 
He enjoyed playing tournament chess, reading, woodworking, gardening and collecting books. He is survived by his wife; daughters, Audrey Theurer of Philomath, Francis Schy of Corvallis, and LeVerne Nepple and Nancy Bell, both of Portland; sons, Bert of McMinnville, Paul of Vacaville, Calif, and Steven of Vancouver, Wash; brother, Melvin of Dallas; and sister, Ruth Jensen of Bremerton, Wash. Visiting will be from 9 am to 8 pm Friday and 9 am to 12:30 pm Saturday at the mortuary.
