BIOGRAPHICAL (Source - "Arlie History", Historically Speaking, Vol. X, pg 2, PCHS, Aug 1992):
"Isaac Staats married Orlena William, daughter of James E. and Martha Williams, on May 19, 1856.  Isaac was appointed Justice of the Peace over a large territory, consisting of what is now Polk, Benton, and Lincoln counties.  Te trials were held in the log cabin home of the Staats, and Orlena served dinner to the jury, lawyers and a few of the persons connected with the trial.  Isaac was appointed the second post master of the Luckiamute post office, which was established March 14, 1851 and closed November 23, 1874.  THe Airlie post office was etablished Sptember 5, 1882 and Isaac served there as first post master for seven additional years."
