WSBH DC (Cowlitz Co., WA 1935) #168 William Newton Wood, male, retired, married to Alice Myrtle Wood, b. 8 January 1848 in Little Rock, Arkansas, died 2 October 1935, aged 87 years, 7 months, 24 days in Kelso, Cowlitz Co., Washington.  Father's name:  Marion F. Wood, b. not known; Mother's name:  Lena Simpson, b. not known. Buried at Airlie, Oregon [English Cemetery] on 4 October 1935. Informant:  C. A. Wood.  Ditlevsen Funeral Home, Kelso, Washington.

OBITUARY: 

Final Rites Held For William Wood
Airlie – Funeral services for William Wood were held in the church here Friday at 2 o’clock with Rev. Fogg officiating. 
“Uncle Bill” was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 2, 1848. He was married to Alice Black and four children were born to them, three of whom are living. Four years ago Mr. and Mrs. Wood moved to Kelso. 
Mr. Wood is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Weaver of southern Oregon; two sons, Lester of Portland, and Carl of Kelso; also eight grandchildren. He was laid to rest in the old English cemetery. Pall bearers were: Loren Cooper, George Williamson, Jesse McKibbens, Charles Nendel, Steve Tarter and A.J. Turner.
