Susan Marie Lewis Greenlee, Nov 21, 1957-Nov 9, 2009
Susan Marie Lewis Greenlee, 51, of Independence died Nov 9 in Independence. In May 2008 after about a year of constant illness she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and died due to conditions related to that illness. She was born in San Luis Obispo, Calif, to David and Patty Lewis. Susan grew up in California and Arkansas. She took Jesus as her Lord and Savior when she was four years old and was baptized at First Baptist Church of Santa Maria, Calif, at age eight. She graduated from West Fork High school in Arkansas and attended Faith Baptist Church College in Ankeny, Iowa where she met Dale Greenlee. They were married on June 18, 1977. They lived in Iowa, California and Oregon. After graduation from Chemeketa Community College she started a medical transcription service. Susan was active in many church ministries including AWEANA, children’s Sunday School classes and in Gideons International. Survivors include her husband, Dale Greenlee of Independence; daughter, Laura Crabb of Independence; son, Grandon Greenlee of Vancouver, Wash; father, David Lewis of Santa Maria, Calif; sister, Denise Williams of Littleton, Colo; and one grandchild. Memorial service was Nov 14 at Independence First Baptist Church with interment at English Cemetery in Monmouth. Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence handled arrangements.
