OBITUARY: 

Lafe Edwards, 73, former resident for many years of the Pedee-Airlie communities, died Monday at his home in Philomath. He was the son of Polk county pioneers and was born at Pedee July 18, 1885. Services are scheduled for 1:30 pm today (Thursday) at the McHenry Funeral Home, 9th and Monroe streets, Corvallis. Rev. John Houser of the First Baptist church, Corvallis, will officiate. 
Mr. Edwards was the son of Joseph and Missouri Ritner Edwards. His father had come to Oregon in 1851 and his mother a year later. He married Velna Bevens Sept 27, 1917, at Dallas. The couple made their home at Pedee for a number of years and then on a farm near Airlie for eight years, when they moved back to Pedee. In 1950 they moved from Pedee to Philomath. Mr. Edwards retired in 1952. He had been ill for only a short time. He is survived by his wife, Velna; a son, Glen of Pedee; a brother, Alvin Edwards, Philomath; and three grandchildren.
