OBITUARY: 
Former Philomath resident Verna E. Roten of Lyons died Tuesday. She was 73.
Born in Philomath to Alvin and Jessie Edwards, she was a granddaughter of early Polk County pioneers. She was raised and educated in Philomath and lived briefly in Alsea before moving to the Lyons area 45 years ago.
She married Milton Roten on Sept. 23, 1995, in Lyons. She was a homemaker but worked briefly as a caregiver at Marian Estates.
Survivors include her husband; daughter, Glenna Seits-Crandall of Stayton; stepdaughter, Barbara Morley of Willamina; stepson, Robert Roten of Laramie, Wyo.; brother, Harley Edwards of Corvallis; sisters, C. LaVelle Shaw of Corvallis and Harlene Stratton of Philomath; a granddaughter; two stepgrandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Weddle Funeral Home. A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Pioneer Cemetery in Pedee.
Memorial donations can be made to Union Gospel Mission of Gates Community Church of Christ.
