Mrs Velna Lena Edwards, 71, lifelong resident of the Airlie-Pedee area, died Sunday night at the Dallas hospital. She had been in ill health about a month but had entered the hospital very recently. Mrs Edwards was born April 25, 1893, at Airlie, daughter of Gilbert J. and Nancy Crowley Bevens. She married Lafe Edwards at Dallas Sept 27, 1917. They had resided at Airlie and Pedee from 1931 to 1950 when they went to Philomath. Mr Edwards died Dec 8, 1958. The family home was on North G street in Philomath. Surviving are one son, Glen Edwards, Route 2, Monmouth, and one sister, Mrs Jessie Edwards, Philomath. There are three grandchildren. Services were Wednesday afternoon at Bollman Funeral Home and burial was in Edwards cemetery near Pedee.
