OBITUARY: 

Mrs Virginia Maude Gorsline, 85, of 1965 Madison St NE, died Frriday at a Salem nursing home. She was the granddaughter of Major Walter Walker, early settler of the Spring Valley area, Polk County’s first commissioner and an early representative to the Territorial Legislature. Walker Junior High School in West Salem was named after him. Mrs Gorsline was born at Lincoln and lived all her life in the Salem area. She was a member of Englewood Evangelical United Brethren Church. Survivors include daughters Mrs Lois Morris, Salem, and Mrs Helen L. Scott, Hoquiam, Wash; and two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral will be Monday at 1 pm at W.T. Rigdon Mortuary, with burial in Zena Cemetery.
