Selma Rose Hansen Nickila, Jan 18, 1927-Nov 12, 1998

Keizer – Selma Nickila, 71, died Thursday at her home. Cause of death was unavailable. She was born in Salem and attended Englewood Elementary, Parrish Junior High and graduated from Salem High school in 1944. She graduated from Chemeketa Community College and attended ITT. She was a homemaker, an intake specialist/receptionist for Marion County Juvenile Department and retired from Mid-Willamette Valley Senior Services Agency in 1985. She wintered at Sun Lakes, Ariz, and was a member of Sun Lakes Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing, reading, painting and visiting the coast. Survivors include her husband, Dr LeRoy; daughters, Carol Nash of Willamina, Laurie Mann of Keizer and Suzanne Schweihofer of St Clair, Mich; sons, Gary, John and Kevin Ray, all of Salem; brother, Ingvaard Hansen of Salem; sisters, Nellie Smith of Salem, Harda Spires of Waukegan, Ill, Marna Swinson of Myrtle Creek and Anna Sullivan of Ellensburg, Wash; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be noon Tuesday in Rosedale Friends Church, Salem, which she attended. Graveside services will follow in Zena Cemetery. Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Chapel of the Gardens, Salem. Contributions: Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Research or Northwest Medical Teams.
