1900 OR CENSUS - Elizabeth Shepard, age 83, widowed, b. Jan 1817 in Virginia, is enumerated as mother-in-law in the home of William Wade, age 59, b. Mar 1841 in Missouri, and his wife of 15 years, Mattie A., age 58, mother of 3 children, b. May 1842 in Missouri.

OBITUARY: 

Mrs Shepard Dead.
Mrs. Elizabeth Shepard died at her home near Zena, Polk county, Sunday, February 19, 1905, after a short illness.
At the time of her death deceased was 88 years, 1 month and 6 days old, and has lived in Oregon for many years. She was born in Virginia. She was a woman most highly respected and had many friends. She was better known as “Grandma” Shepard. She leaves five children, three sons and two daughters. They are: William, Albert and James, and Mrs. Mattie Wade and Mrs. R. S. Johnson, besides many grand children. Her husband died several years ago.
She was a consistent Christian for over 80 years, and was always thinking of others, and helping them in every way she could.
The funeral services were held at Zena today, Rev. P. S. Knight, of this city, conducting the services, and the interment was in the Zena cemetery.
