Rob Roy McGilchrist, March 10, 1957-March 21, 2002
Hubbard – Rob Roy McGilchrist, 45, died of heart failure on Thursday at Tualatin Hospital. Rob was born to Robert and Norma McGilchrist in Roseburg on March 10, 1957. He attended grade school in Looking Glass, Ore, and attended Judson Junior High School in Salem, North Marion High School, and Chemeketa Community College. Rob was involved in concrete work for more than 20 years, which he loved. He owned and operated McGilchrist Concrete Worx, and was a perfectionist in his work. He was a very patient and kind father, especially with his four-year-old son, Garrett. Rob was proud of his son Jerrin, who is in the US Navy, serving on the USS Roosevelt. Rob was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for seven-and-a-half years, and was very proud of it. He was loved by all who knew him. He helped many people and very sympathetic to those in need of work, or those struggling with addictions. He was a great husband and father, very loyal and protective. His smile, laugh, and hugs will be greatly missed. Rob accepted Jesus into his heart, and is probably helping the Lord pour new concrete in Heaven. Survivors include the love of his life, Karol (Rudy); daughters, Stacy and Ingrid; sons, Jerrin, Garret and Samuel; brother, David; sisters, Lori Jo, Jan, Kathy and Jerilyn; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a baby daughter. Memorial services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, March 27 at Bethany Evangelical Church. Burial will follow at Zena Cemetery in Salem at 2 pm on Wednesday. Arrangements are by Canby Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made at any Washington Mutual Bank for his son, Garrett McGilchrist, or your local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.
