1910 OR CENSUS – Amanda Lake (48y, b Oregon, married 12y) enumerated with husband Gus (44y, b Wisconsin, occupation farmer)

DISCREPANCY – There is considerable uncertainty over her birth date. The 1860-80 census indicate she was born about 1857, while the 1900 and 1910 census indicate 1865 and 1862. Her tombstone and death certificate indicate 1860. Since the information in earlier census was probably provided by her parents, they would seem to be more reliable

OBITUARY: 

Lake – At the Salem hospital, Oct 1, 1918, Mrs Amanda Lake, at the age of 58 years. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Zena, Polk county, and will be conducted by the Rev J.F. McKinley. Burial will be in the Zena cemetery. She was the wife of Gus Lake, and her home was at Spring Valley. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs David Townsend, Yamhill county pioneers.
